Welcome!
Rose Cowles is a Governor General Award nominated artist who paints from the rooftop of her home, overlooking the Juan de Fuca Strait in Esquimalt BC, Canada. She can also be found in Rock Bay Square at her LOOK Studio where she teaches classes and works on larger bodies of work.
If you were to ask Rose what she is all about, she would tell you that she is in the business of simple pleasures that provide the viewer with brief and positive experiences. Rose’s work portrays everything from realism to whimsical and everything in between.

It was such a pleasure in 2025 to hang this exciting new series at THE INN AT LAUREL POINT. My heart will not let me take this post down. I am in love with my abstract freighters but haven’t been able to clearly find a path forward for them that feels good to me. They belong in homes and not stored in my studio SO I’m letting you know now that I will be blitzing them at the upcoming Moss Street Paint-In this July 18, from 11-4. I am seasonal about my work and this collection of paintings has come to an end.
Time to move on once more . . .
